EU: GREENBUILDING In 2004, the European Commission initiated the GreenBuilding Programme (GBP). This programme aims at improving the energy efficiency and expanding the integration of renewable energies in non-residential buildings in Europe on a voluntary basis. The programme addresses owners of non-residential buildings to realise cost-effective measures which enhance the energy efficiency of their buildings in one or more technical disciplines.

UK Code for Sustainable Homes The Code measures the sustainability of a new home against categories of sustainable design, rating the ‘whole home’ as a complete package. The Code uses a 1 to 6 star rating system to communicate the overall sustainability performance of a new home. The Code sets minimum standards for energy and water use at each level and, within England.
The Code also gives new homebuyers better information about the environmental impact of their new home and its potential running costs, and offer builders a tool with which to differentiate themselves in sustainability terms.
Since April 2007 the developer of any new home in England can choose to be assessed against the Code.

The Association also reaches out to non-member countries to facilitate the growth in green roofs and the establishment of an national association.

IEA- Ventilation and air infiltration Ventilation and air infiltration into buildings represent a substantial energy demand which can account for between 25% to over 50% of a building's total space heating (or cooling) needs. Unnecessary or excessive air change can therefore have an important impact on global energy use. On the other hand insufficient ventilation may result in poor indoor air quality and consequential health problems.

Sustainable Construction & Innovation through Procurement The SCI-Network connects public authorities looking to procure innovative and sustainable solutions within their construction projects.
The public sector is responsible for 40% of EU construction activity. Buildings are responsible for 36% of EU CO2 emissions.Public sector construction therefore needs to be sustainable and innovative.
The SCI-Network aims to:
