Today the Commission has published a summary report of the replies received to the public consultation on establishing scientific criteria to identify endocrine disruptors, as required by the regulations on biocidal and plant protection products. This public consultation was open from 26 September 2014 to 16 January 2015 and took the form of an on-line questionnaire.

On 2 February 2015, the Commission published the responses received and provided a summary report on the 27,087 responses that were submitted via the questionnaire and by email. The objective of the public consultation was to gather data, which will feed into the ongoing Impact Assessment that will be concluded in 2016 with a view to taking a decision on the criteria afterwards. A website on the impact assessment process will be regularly updated.

roadmap on the comprehensive Impact Assessment that the Commission is conducting to analyse the different options for defining these criteria was published in June 2014. A high-level conference was organised last month by the Commission as well as a series of round-tables with EU Member States, MEPs and stakeholders. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interfere with hormone systems, which may lead to harmful effects on public health and the environment. (For more information: Daniel Rosario – Tel.: + 32 229 56185; Aikaterini Apostola - Tel.: +32 229 87624)
